Name: Lucas Dumahn
Alias: Painter
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Tribe: Outsiders
Rank: Outcast
Term of Residence in New Pork: 3-6 months
Political standing: He couldn't care less about Tribe politics, or any other kind, really. As for morals, he definately has them - he won't kill unless he has to (/was hired to), and he never lies or steals (except under the aforementioned exception). He's actually a very "good" person, despite how most people see him.
Romantic orientation: Not really picky. He figures that if that person comes along, he'll figure it out sooner or later.
Marital status: Single
Nationality: Australian / English
Birthplace: Melbourne, Australia
Country of residence: United States of America
Occupation (pre-Plague): Student / Artist
Weight: 114lbs.
Height: 5'5"
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Blonde
Mutation: He has a sort of sensitivity to materials - he can tell what things are composed of with a glance or touch. He doesn't know he has this ability, though, and merely uses it unconsciously to know where paint will stay and where it won't keep.
Mental disabilities: Often thinks almost too fast - he jumps to conclusions and can be excitable. He often tries to suppress his natural jumpiness, which leads to surprising outbursts at odd times.
Physical disabilities: Slight weakness in his left arm; no good at fighting physically.
Fears: Being left completely alone, death, being shot/stabbed.
Likes: Having food/water/shelter, having places to go, painting, finding new paint supplies, humming.
Dislikes: Rude people, shallowness, being lied to, being hurt, the dark, fear.
Addictions: None.
Average intellect / average test score: Maybe a C - he always had his head in the clouds.
Merits: Creative, good at connecting the dots, dexterous, artistically talented, good at fighting, of some intelligence, has great aim..
Demerits: Not the brightest tool in the shed, physically weaker than most (not to mention smaller), often zones out or loses touch with reality.
Favorite super-hero(es): If you asked him that, he would be more likely to say, "That detective on TV!" than any traditional superhero. He's bothered by their power - he doesn't like the idea of anyone with "superpowers".
Favorite color: Green.
Favorite food: Goldfish. The crackers, not the fish.
Family status: Mother, Angela, deceased; Father, Jonathan, lives in Sydney, Australia; Brother, Ryan, lives in Sydney, Australia; Sister, Marie, presumed dead.
Crime record: None.
Preferred weapon: Pistol, but ammunition's getting low, so he's taken a liking to knives.
Fighting style: With a pistol, he stays back and makes accurate shots from afar. With a knife, he tends to prefer sneaking up on his victim - he hates for them to see his face.
Kills: Maybe five. Maybe ten. He stopped counting how many people that the other children have hired him to kill. It isn't particularly frequent, that, but it happens, and he always carries out his missions.
Special skills: Painting! He's an excellent painter, and pays great attention to detail. He's also a fair shot with a gun or throwing knife.
Habits: Keeping a pencil in hand at all times and sketching whenever possible, always must have the door shut in a room, gets cold when he's intimidated or afraid.

"Now, I did a job. I got nothin' but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character, so let me make this abundantly clear: I do the job. Then I get paid."Appearance:
-- Mal Reynolds, Firefly, Pilot Episode
Even for a young boy, Painter comes up short and small. He weighs in at just 114lbs., though, granted, this is after several months in New Pork. He's just barely 5'5", too, though, and overall his build and look make him seem.. well, weak. He doesn't have a lot of muscle to him, though he does have a bit, particularly after having to survive as he has in this city gone mad. His hair used to be pale blonde and short, but since arrival in New Pork the color has darkened dramatically, to the point where it is difficult to tell that it's brown, and his hair has grown almost to his shoulders. Even his mud-brown eyes have changed - they've become colder.Personality:
Lucas came to New Pork dressed in a light coat, jeans, and a gray t-shirt, with a change of clothes or two in his bag. His coat has since been shredded, and at least one shirt ruined by blood and wear. His two pairs of jeans have held through well, though the pair of slacks he brought with him didn't do as well, and has long since been discarded. All of his clothes bear witness to his lifestyle - they're typically covered in grime and bloodstains (not all of which are his).
Lucas, well... he tries to be stoic. Or rather, he wishes he was. He dreams of being able to handle himself like some video game hero, the strong silent type. Unfortunately, that just isn't Lucas. At least, not usually.Notable History:
He used to be a sympathetic kid, the gentle artist. He used to paint all day, or else sketch, and he would give away the pictures to his friends or teachers. He would give his lunch money to kids who'd lost theirs or been beaten up for it. He was a good boy, good student, good friend, and good son.
When his parents divorced, he adapted well. Living in America for two years brought a unique perspective to him, and he saw things in a different way. When he returned to Australia, he knew how to shoot a gun and throw a knife, and he knew what swear words they used on the streets of New York, but he was still the same good kid that he was when he left.
That ended with the virtual destruction of New York, where his mother and younger sister lived (more in History). He was still kind, but he had to hide that part of himself if he was to survive in New Pork.
At first, he was sent gung-ho right into the Vampires, but their style wasn't his. He couldn't bring himself to kill without reason or right. He was too clean for that life, but what he lived of it tainted him nonetheless.
So he left on his own, and over time he has become what he desired to be - a stone cold killer-for-hire. On his off time he holds to his own morals, but he realized long ago that he would have to sacrifice them to stay alive.
After all, outcast from his Tribe, the only way to keep the Tribes from killing him was to make himself indispensible to them. After all, they wouldn't kill him if he was useful.
Lucas Dumahn was born in Melbourne, Australia, to Angela and Jonathan Dumahn. He had an older brother, Ryan, and a younger sister, Marie. Growing up, he was always closer to Marie - she loved his art, and shared his love of the brush and canvas.Reputation:
His parents divorced when he was eight, and at first, he was sent to live with his mother and sister in New York City, where they had moved.. However, he got into some trouble - apparently, he offended the wrong kid on his street, and the thug had vowed to kill him. So, after only two years, Lucas found himself being shipped right back to Australia.
Some years later, in light of the Black Death, Lucas desperately wanted to see his mother and sister, to see for his own eyes that they were safe, especially after so many years apart. Unfortunately, he got off the plane to find that the Black Plague had finally hit New York. Needless to say, Lucas was sent back to Australia.
However, some time after the Cleansing, the boy scrounged up and stole from his father enough money for a one-way ticket to America. He made his way to New York, only to find that his mother was one of the confirmed dead in the city.
His sister, however, was "presumed dead". But they didn't know.
She could have been alright.
So he went to New Pork. He found his way inside, and was almost immediately snatched up by the Vampires. He joined them, and for a time he worked out his frustrations and anger with them, until he had no more, and realized what he was doing.
He didn't believe in willful killing, or death without reason. His moral compunctions caused him to swiftly fall in rank, from Hunter to Commoner, then to Omega, and finally he was kicked out of the Tribe. He was nearly killed, but managed to escape through some clever trickery.
Over the next several weeks, he worked on networking the other Tribes, letting them know what he could do, what use he was to them, and just making contacts. Soon, he found himself being hired to do jobs.
He stole for the Wharf Rats and Wildcats (hell, he even murdered for the Rats; the Wildcats were too proud to take him up on that offer). He killed for the Vampires. He did odd jobs, whatever was needed. He planted the seeds of dependancy on him within each Tribe as he could, trying to make himself as indispensible as possible while still serving each of the Tribes.
His more prominant jobs involve the murder of several Hunters and relatively influential people in the Tribes - most of these kills were ordered by his old Tribe, the Vampires. It wasn't often - and still isn't frequent - that he was asked to kill someone, but it happened, and he pulled it off flawlessly.
He considers his crowning achievement to be a heist he pulled for the Rats, stealing food from the Vampires without getting caught - or identified. It's rumoured he's stolen from the Wildcats, but no one's really sure about that.
He's a killer, plain and simple. He's a mercenary, willing to do whatever people will pay him to. If it's a heist, he gets a cut of the profit. If it's a killing or maiming, he expects payment in food or goods - bullets are preferable, but rare.Other:
Otherwise, though, he is said to be a good man. He doesn't kill wantonly. He doesn't harm the innocent. Even if someone gets in his way during a job, he won't kill them unless he's left no choice.
Ummm. Thank you~?
