Nemo smiled at her reply, obviously pleased that arrogance and pride were not a long lost quality among the tribe's ranks.
Well, it certainly took its time, but there seems to be someone with as much an ego as me around the Waterfront.
"Complexity is not a valid justification for failing at giving a good answer, Miss Reji. Or is it not even you can fathom what it is that makes you fathom at all?", asked Nemo, very proud of his 'recent' mastery of the english language.
((OoC: You'd figure living, for years in a row, inside a metal container crammed with books would improve your english skills, and so it did.
Would like to add the books part to Nemo's profile sometime in the future))
Reji's "threat", even though directed at Zenzi, woke Nemo up from his contentment. There was more than oddness and self-importance about her. Violence and spite were not uninvited guests to the party upstairs at all.
Page 342, User's Manual, Topic 7-42 - Warnings: Device is equipped with a self-defence mecanism and will not hesitate to use it on anything that is considered either a threat or a nuisance, thought Nemo, Be extra careful when handling a General Independent Rational Lady, or G.I.R.L ., for you may find yourself brutally maimed if, for any reason, you are considered as one of the aforementioned entities by it
--
"Very well, then, feel free to relax in that diemordial soup. In fact, I'm sure you won't be the same, in every possible way, after you chill in that delicious little cocktail", is what Nemo replied to Zenzi.

[[No, they're just throwing some random verbal jabs at each other, no actual violence involved. Nemo is not fond of physical violence, and having a crippled leg hardly makes fighting a good idea, so he'll do his best not to ]]

[Zenzi doesn't wanna fight; just want swim ] A light breeze rustled Zenzi's hair, carrying the stale scent of stagnant water and that wet mildew stench. Sighing he drew his knees toward him, draping his bare arms across them and lowering his head. And there went his mood; amid the air of putrid decay and possible illness. To make matters worse, he was now uncomfortable. Staring in front of him, his lips pursed before he let them hang apart slightly. What could he say that wouldn't further irritate either a) his own temper or b) the tempers of Reji and Nemo? Smiling he glanced back, lifting and shaking his scarf before securing it around his neck. "Reji, you didn't say that I was wrong about your..." Choose your words carefully. "...bosom."

Reji rolled her eyes so far back they almost went all the way back in her head. Boys just didn't get the whole 'shut up' theory, did they?
"Look. Why don't we just drop the whole subject and go snorkling?"
There was an edge of sarcasm in this statement, but Reji was prepared to dive headfirst into the ocean stark naked then discuss her bodily functions with two boys.

Zenzi chuckled at Reji's candid and somewhat angry responses. At least, he took them as angry. He pondered saying something as he glanced back but frowned. Would he really feel like angering them any more? Or most importantly, himself?
"But I thought you were against the water? Besides, you two have shot my mood." He smirked, glancing back. "And since my attention to the sea has been stolen, I'll just focus on you two. Reji, right? Just what is it you don't want us to see?"
Maybe Reji was a boy. God, that would interesting. Zenzi was the type that people would cross his gender and for once, it would be delightful to meet a boy who was actually pretending to be a girl. He smiled at the idea, confusing himself in the process.

Is this what they're going to be talking about all day!? I've seen more interesting dialogues in an all-potato cast version of a microwave oven user's manual. Nemo was all but satisfied with the sudden turn Zenzi had given their conversation.
"Would the happy couple mind if the candlestick left? Since you both seem so keen to... 'bathe' in... that, possibly, egh, together", Nemo pointed at the all-but-clean water, a frown mixed with disgust helping him make his point "I think it would be best if I left you two lovebirds without an audience."
Stupid, useless teenagers...
Turning to Reji, a disappointed, slightly arrogant, with half a pint of desdain, face showed the girl its owner was no longer in a good mood.
"I'd better leave before I also get the urge to take a dip. Some sort of virus, or bacteria, must be causing them... there's something about the words 'lethal', 'hazardous', 'toxic' and specially 'flammable' that makes a sane mind question any course of action that involves unprotected contact with anything described as such.
I brought my galoshes because I had to walk on the 'sand', you'd need a blast-suit or something like that for even getting too close to that little soup of horrors."
Cane in hand, Nemo pushed himself up, and slowly made his way to his cart. When he was halfway through, he stopped and turned back to face his two tribesmen.
"You're Wharf Rats, use your brain... that is, unless you want to end up like every living thing that goes into this water nowadays."

"And since my attention to the sea has been stolen, I'll just focus on you two. Reji, right? Just what is it you don't want us to see?"
Reji gave him a look that could have made a volcano stop erupting. He was going to be SKEWERED by the end of the day, but why not add a little more sarcasm in the form of a threat to the mix?
"You know, you might as well have asked this whole ocean to move aside and show you what's underneath."
She cringed a little at the look on the younger boy's face. Yikes, did she make him mad? Her and her big fat mouth.
"Well, it wasn't MY fault!"
Boys.

Zenzi sighed heavily, bored with her tone. "Well, aren't you a clever little thing, Reji?" He stood now, lifting his shirt and peering at the sandy fabric. Shaking it gently, he shrugged as he tried to decide whether or not to put it back on. It was very odd but his scarf was pretty much all he needed for the time being.
"Relax, Nemo," Zenzi spoke slowly, smiling gently. "No one's going in the water. Don't worry your pretty little head. No infections for any of us, hm?" He raised his eyebrows slightly and nodded.
His voice was decidedly nicer, at least he thought so. And he hoped that they picked up on it.

Reji exasperatedley blew a strand of hair from her face. Boys were so weird. And naive. And a list of other things she couldn't think of at the moment. Having had her fill of this nonsense, she plunked down on a rock by the water and held her head in her hands, looking indifferent.
"Well? Are you going to jump in or what?"

((Just looked through the wikipedia article on the "Marvel Zombies" comic-book mini-series, and, having re-read the series yesterday, I got that uncomfortable feeling back. If this post isn't "as good" as the other ones, you now know why )) "Ah, I see you got it, Zenzi, very well done!", said Nemo, a sarcastic tone of approval all over his words, "The last thing we need around here is an epidemic, ok? As far as I know, healing anyting past bruises or cuts is beyond the tribe's reach." "Blame is not the issue here, Miss Reji, nor is suicide. That happens a lot, it's not a problem. It's a sick deadcity because of someone's urge to take a dip in some goo that used to be 'dippable'.", Nemo was serious about his previous sentences, "Your head, Miss Reji, is your greatest possession, and your hands your best weapons. When combined, very little is beyond your grasp." "Or are you so tired of it, you're actually looking forward to a refreshing bath of cold chemical waste down your throat, Zenzi?, sarcasm was a friend, indeed.

Zenzi chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Oh, piss off already slave-boy. I was trying to be nice and just wait until you left." He shrugged, feeling certainly more energetic. "And maybe an epidemic is exactly what's needed around here; liven things up a bit. If people would stop acting like jackasses, we wouldn't need to worry about "healing bruises and cuts" now would we? No, no we wouldn't." Zenzi didn't like blood and sure, he would shed some if need be but for the most part, it was not something he was fond of.
Tossing his shirt over his shoulder and shoving his hands in his pockets, Zenzi tilted his head and grinned. "What's this about my throat? I can think of a few other things just as toxic and refreshing going down there, but unfortunately, none's readily available." His eyes focused on Nemo for a moment, glancing at Reji before turning back to the sea. "At least, I don't think so anyway."
Girls were no fun.

Reji merely sat on the rock, shaking her head. Boys were so callow. It made her want to scream sometimes, but as of now she was having a rather interesting time watching these two. A lot more entertaining than televison. But it was time to add her input.
"Why don't you go ahead and jump in? If you shrivel up, it's toxic, if you don't, it's not."

Zenzi rolled his eyes, scowling at the sea. Why did it have to be so...dirty? It wasn't even remotely clean enough to stick his hand in, much less his entire body. Part of his agitation spawned from Reji's comment.
"If you stayed in any body of water, clean or dirty, long enough then you'd wrinkle. That's common knowledge." He smiled, tilting his head a bit. "Why don't you show us that darling bathing suit of yours?"
He was suddenly intrigued by the idea of seeing her skin. Her face seemed soft, so that meant that tearing into it would prove both difficult and messy. He didn't like messy. When things were messy, they were harder to deal with.
"And you, boy," He nodded in Nemo's direction. "What say you liven up the area? Entertain us a little, hm?"

Reji sighed a sigh so drawn-out that you wouldn't think there wasn't that much air in her lungs. Zenzi was starting to irk her more.
"If I show you, I have the right to hereby bash you in if you make ONE remark. Is that understood?
She raised her eyebrows in questioning. There had to be a line drawn, and she was not going to flaunt her swimsuit to two capricious male homo sapiens that had no feelings at all for the delicate balance of the female race.

"I'm afraid my duties to the tribe do not include entertainment at the expense of my dignity, Zenzi.", said Nemo.
Sorting out what he had and needed to get took him away from reality for a few minutes, thus the silence on his behalf.
"What's with you, Zenzi? You haven't even touched the water and you're already acting like a pile of garbage", resumed Nemo, a sarcastic smile on his face.
Lesser imbecile, have you no grasp on the simple concept of etiquette?
"Why is it so damn important for you to get a glimpse, if not a hands-on demonstration, at miss Reji's body??", asked Nemo, annoyed with the teenage spurts of idiocy around him, "Get a grip on yourself!"

Zenzi chuckled, closing his eyes briefly before staring out at the sea. Insults were, at the moment, less mocking and more humorous. Perhaps he should turn to the little brazen boy and reply with another insult? No, there was no fun in that. After all, they were being somewhat cordial with one another now.
"Oh, come now. I would never even think of making a single crude remark, Reji dear. Besides, I'm sure you have a wonderful body to match that outstanding personality." He smiled sweetly at the girl.
And now for the other one. The other whose question just made him laugh. Why did he want to see Reji's body?
"It's too simple," Zenzi was laughing, running his hands through his hair. "I shouldn't even have to explain it to you but I won't keep it from you." He paused, crossing his arms. "I want to see if that body is worth my taking it apart." He smiled again and there was nothing youthful or bright about it. "That's all."

Reji nearly burst out laughing. All he wanted to do is see if he could beat her up?! Wow. She never thought boys were that dumb, but then, older guys were dumb sometimes, too. In that case, she was going to go about her day without showing one speck of flesh.
"Oh really. As if I'm going to fight you."

Zenzi turned to Reji, curious about her response, an eyebrow raised in confusion. "What?" Fight? Oh, she had misunderstood. Poor silly little thing. This definitely ruled out her brain being of any entertaining value. He laughed, shaking his head.
"No no. Not fighting; I don't care to fight. And not you, of course not." He would need to explain himself yet again and sighed, smiling. "When I said 'take it apart,' I meant that precisely." He paused. It would be better then, most likely, to be frank about it. "I mean literally; I want to see if you are worth tearing apart. Limb by limb; probably start with your fingers." He stopped so as to contain the excitement building in him. "Do you understand now?"

"Oh, I understand alright. But if I wanted that done to me, I would have asked a Wild Cat to do it."
Reji gave him her best daddy's-little-angel smile and looked at the water. If he still planned to jump in, she'd love to watch. Watch him be dissolved, of course. Such a thing was a good activity when someone had just said something about taking you apart.
