Hail crawled up to the position, near a downed streetlamp. He peered over it, taking out his binoculars. He couldn't see anything, so he moved on, this time in a crouching position. In his right hand was his pistol, his left was said binoculars. Continuing on in the shadows, wearing his dark grey trenchcoat to cover his sword and clothing, he was relatively slow and fluid in motion, but making surprisingly good time. He supposed he was about four blocks down from his destination: Gargoyle Tower, but he had never been there - or seen it - so he couldn't be sure. Hail just hoped that he could hook up with some of the other cigarettes sometime soon. He'd been unable to get Deadeye or Judas, so he just hoped whoever was coming with Reason and Axle would be enough.

Yes, well, Hail had to be there somewhere. It’d be unsporting of him to just have disappeared now, when Reason’d just convinced the others that he had a great plan. That, she decided would be the worst thing that could happen right then, next to a Vampire attack – Hail not being there. She was sure he was neither a Vampire not a Wildcat (the only tribes she thought might gain anything from ambushing this many key cigarettes,) but she was far from recognizing every face; just the leaders and most of the Hunters. Maybe he was a new Vampire and this was his hazing?
No, surely not? He’d sounded trustworthy enough before now; she was just nervous. Shrugging her pack higher onto her shoulder, Reason peered out over the fallen building in her path. A sheet of metal lay slanting against it and it was this on which she lay, her chin above the edge so she could see over the mountain of rubble. The Gargoyle tower spanned up into the sky a few blocks ahead – full to the brim with killing machines – and a Cigarette, and Dancer (who, conceivably was also a Vampire but less of a killing machine. Maybe they’d let her stay with the Cigarettes. Probably not; they’d tear her apart for a Vampire.), who were prisoners. And, off course, Seraphim could be a killing machine when he wanted to, but Reason suspected that he wasn’t one now – probably half dead or some such. Oh well, time to work on that latter. All they needed to do was get him back to Vox.
Reason turned, signaled the others forward, and slid off the metal plate, landing quietly on the ash-covered road. She nodded at Axel, (who seemed disappointed to have lost his position as leader, although his shoulders no longer sagged with responsibility,) who herded Daisuke forward and switched off the torch. They’d have to go silently and invisibly now.

The faint sounds of footfalls would echo down New York City once more. The maker of the noise was catching up, crouched, and heavily laden with seven pouches full of 7.62x51 NATO rounds, a tube containing 50 arrows, and a hunting crossbow, the only unnnessasry noise he made was from the sloshing water in a flask he had, his footsteps, and his panthing breath. He was now crouching low amongst the ruins of a building, using his rifle's scope as a spyglass.
"Why didn't I go earlier" He thought, as he neared the intersection of E 51st Street and Seventh Avenue. He looked to his left, the ruined cathedral of St. Peter. He said a quick Hail Mary, before looking around. The old place still had the feel of it. Small theathers here and there, businesses. All dead. He looked up, around, and back. One never knew where the enemy is. He held an old, but still effective, US Army M14A3, used in the Korean War of Unification. It featured International Match grade barrels, which provided accuracy for long distances. Although it was identical to it's earlier cousins, this one was as accurate as the gun can be. The stock was of the darker, urban combat synthetic, although he had a walnut one back in the Castle, he chose this, mainly to cause less notice. It had on a nifty little sight. Technology provided him with a 2x, 4x, and 10x sight, complete with night vision and even, for the 2x magnification, infared. It was as long as the original, but that meant it was as lethal. No one survives a 7.62mm round to the body. No one.
Enough with describing his rifle. Edward knew enough about it. He looked again, before dashing across seventh avenue and accross the uneven and broken pavement to the corner of E51 and Broadway. Looking around the corner with his rifle he saw through the soldier-proofed scope that someone was ahead. He had found an old BMX helmet in the stores a few days back. Which was a God send. It allowed him to wear the mount of his NVG much better now. He saw movement ahead. A block ahead. He adjusted his rifle, and clicked the sight into NV mode. The little electronic box on the side of the scope clicked softly, before a very light and faint green glow emited from the scope. He saw what seemed...no it was Daisuke. And it appears that Reason and Axel were there...they were moving up to what he guessed would be Hail.
"Found you" He said softly, as he stepped forward, and moved along the shadows. He was fond of the old war movies. And he had videos upon videos of Special Forces maneuvers and Infantry tactics back when he was in the World, training to be an officer at VMI. This was no game. No exercise. Two lives depended on this band of rag-tag soldiers, and just now, he was joining in.
Before he would meet up with the group, now a block down, he felt a little uneasy. He sighed, and said something he never said in a long time, eversince he heard of his family's demise. Softly, and to himself, he recited the only Latin he knew.
"Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto..." He recited, as he made his way to the group.

Hail produced a pistol from his pocket as he crawled forward, to the corner of a building, and looked about for any Vampires, Wharf Rats, or Wildcats, and got into a crouching position. Two more blocks and he'd be to his destination, but he didn't want to go that far just yet. Upon hearing Edward's speech, he spun about, his Colt .45 Caseless M2109 at hand, looking Edward straight in the face. After the boy, about his own age, finished his latin recitation, Hail spoke softly, his gun not raised towards Edward, rather the ground and in both hand. "Tribe?" Not that raising his gun wouldn't be easier than Edward raising his M14 at Hail, should the one in front of him prove to not be a Cigarette. Glancing out of the corner of his eye, Hail caught Reason and another, probably Axel, making headway towards them.

He had gone from 0 to 60 it seemed. Either that, or this "Hail" character was more tuned to his surroundings. He took a position nearby, the car's rusted and burnt hulk acting as a sort of defilade from the tower. He got some ash. It may be gray, but as he made one vertical line from his cheek bone to his chin, he said this to him.
"If I had said Flash, what would you have said? I'm a cig. From what I heard from Reason, arrived nearly at the same time you did. Well, probably a day or so later. I heard about this plan from others. I thought you'd like some help. I assume you'd been taught rudimentary infantry tactics? I wasn't that bad back in VMI."
He turned now towards their objective. He produced a clamp on bipod from his pocket, and attached it to the front end of his rifle's stock. Setting it up, he looked at the tower, and noticed the rope leading up to the thirteenth floor. Last time he checked the goverment files he had studied, people had been photographed by Army and Air Force UAVs, climbing up and down that ladder at times.

Reason knew nothing of guns, as a rule. She had an air-powered handgun; the sort that had been popular before the biochemical wars began, and she could tell you next to nothing about that – and, considering it had been a children’s toy before Daisuke modified it, that was rather pathetic. She’d been shooting at her father’s range for as long as she could remember, but that was with a 22. rimfire and that was just about the length and breadth of her experience. Needless to say, two boys standing with guns bothered her not the least. She knew both of them for cigarettes (where were their tribe marks, anyway, that they didn’t recognize each other?) and that made them seem even less likely to shoot each other (talk first shoot later, steadfast Cigarette rule).
Axel knew even less of guns. He knew an AK-47 for a machine gun (action movies,) and he could tell the difference between a sniper, a rifle, a handgun and a revolver. He, however, had been shot at before New Pork and was slightly more ready to admit he didn’t want to go near two possibly hostile boys with projectile weapons. He followed behind Reason, throwing razors spinning above his head.
Reason paused a few meters away from the two, hand on airgun holster (she hated sewing, but at least she knew how too and had been able to sew the holster together from a torn leather jacket someone had found,) expression one or riotous wrath. Axel, still juggling his razors, flicked his hand backwards, caught a blade on the back of his hand like you would a knucklebone, twisted his hand, and flicked the blade back up into the air. The white elite paint on his face wrinkled as he smiled to himself.
"Hail! Edward!" Reason said. "So glad you could make it."

The AK-47 wasn't a machine gun, it was an Assault Rifle. Big difference if you knew it. The Russian RPK on the other hand, was such an MG, meant for suppressive fire or to mow down anyone stupid enough to perform an en-masse attack. "Thunder." Hail said, holstering his pistol. "My father was a Marine. I know some stuff from that.." He showed the hilt of his deceased-father's cavalry-style saber, which still shown brilliantly in what little light there was. As to not allow anyone to see it from a distance, he flaunted it in the open for only a second, and covered it from nearly any but Edward's eyesight with his hand. Then, just as quickly, his trenchcoat hid it again. Hail hadn't had time to mark his face upon his honorary entrance into the tribe; things had gone so quickly for him, he hadn't had time to learn how to make marks, or what they were to look like, et cetera. He waved over to Reason and Axel as they moved closer. "And, yes," Back to Edward, he was speaking, "help, especially yours, as you seem most qualified of us all, would be most appreciated."

John walked quietly behind Axel, keeping to himself - as if he usually talked much, anyway. He was still trying to figure out how to control those unbidded broadcasts of emotions and thoughts - it wouldn't do to call the Vampires' attention to what they were about to do, would it? His mind was working at 100mph, spinning through every story of mind control he had read about or watched on movies. None seemed to work, though.
This wasn't a very good omen. And Edward's presence wasn't very comforting either. Well, it should be - both Hail and Edward were armed to boot - but he couldn't help it but keep a wary eye on the black haired Cigarette.
"F.uck, we're so screwed," Rattlesnake growled under his breath. Reason's appearance had been scray enough - hey, Commando was the only telepath last time he had noticed - and he cringed every time she all but looked at him. A twitch out of place, and he would be back on the cells in a blink. That might be better than actually being caught by the Vampires, but he wasn't quite willing to venture it anyway.
F.uck Seraphim. Really, was he worth risking this much?
Any other time he would have said no. But hell, this was the most hateful tribe on New Pork. Seraphim or any other, the Vampires were going to pay.

"You think that. I'm here only for the fire support." He said that, but he knew it wasn't true. He had the trainign and some expirience. As he made sure they weren't being watched, he turned around.
"Who isn't armed? And who has good aim with a gun?" He said, as he talked with hushed tones to the arrivals. He unslinged the bow and container full of arrows.
"Now then. I want all of us to stick together. Strenght in numbers. If you have no weapons, a stick, a 2x4, anything that can cause 'em hell will do. Just remember who your friends are. I will enter first, then hail. Who ever has the cross bow will enter last. When we enter the building, stay low and near any rubble you find, and near us. If we're to be ambushed, I will see them with my night vision goggles. We came here armed and ready, so don't mess up. We're going to rescue two people, so who ever is uor strongest, get ready to carry them out if we need to. If we can, capture a vampire. use him as a guide." He fumbled through his vest, and produced a 5 inch suppressor. He atatched said suppressor to the end of the barrel, and looked at reason, rifle pointed to the ground.
"Reason. Who else is joining us? If it is Daisuke I'd really like him to be nearby. I don't want to lose him." He said, as he checked his NVG. Nodding his head furiously, it came down, and the eerie green tinted glow showed the outlines of the teenagers he will leading. This was no infantry squad.
"We're so fu.cking screwed if we mess up. this could mean the end for the cigs and we've given our enemies military grade weapons....
Fu.ck."
With that, he turned back to Hail. "I've read a few books in my stint in VMI. ONe was the Memoirs of a commander in WWII. You know, Richard Winters was right, we lead by example, but then, Winters never led a rag tag group of teens."

"This sure as hell isn't Easy Company, and we arn't Screaming Eagles. I doubt any of us have gone through Toccoa, even you." Yes, he new who Major Winters was. "If you'll let me use that crossbow, we can make that plan work. " He pointed to his holstered pistol, "This thing is too loud to pull that off. Though, I'd suggest you hang and snipe until we've got the room clear, while I hit them from close up. Unless, of course, you've got another suppressor. I've praciticed more with a pistol than a crossbow." He paused for a minute to look about and make sure there were no sentries on the roofs, as far as he could see, anyway. "We can't mess up. We've got suprise, technology, and God on our side, not to mention they don't know who you and I are, anyway. Who can be against us and win? I guess a better way to say it is we'll win because 'we want this more than them'... so, yeah."

Edward looke dthrough the scope once more. Nothing on thermals, nor NV.
"Let's move out." He said, as he crouched and pointing his gun down, in the ready position, ran foward to the building before Gargoyle tower. He raised his rifle, and looked at the building once more. He stared up, where he saw the rope leading to the thirteenth floor. If it all goes bad, the best they could do is to lure Mina out, and he can try to shoot the cable with AP rounds.

"Wait..." he paused for a second, then handed the crossbow to "... it wouldn't be a good idea for me to have the crossbow. I need to head in at the front." He, also crouching, handed it off to Reason, who had a weapon, but it didn't seem - at least to Hail - to be powerful enough to kill like they needed it to. Besides, an arrow had more force behind it than most bullets did. Once again, his hand went to his holster, now retrieving the gun he had just put in there. Pistol held in both hands and his sword at his side, his pants dirtied and MARPAT camouflaged for urban scenarios to help him blend, he advanced about ten feet to the right of Edward and fifteen feet behind, loosely following. His eyes scanned the rooftops, his eyes everything around him, however his weren't as good as the senses of most people around him.

Oh, so we’re rag-tag teens now? Reason accept the crossbow from Hail with a scowl and examined it. She’d used one, once, a very long time ago – she’d been on a world holiday with her father and they’d bought one, but they left it in Damascus after they decided the airport would kill them for carrying it or something close to that, after a recent hijacking scare. She’d been eight or something at the time; maybe nine at the most and she’d missed half the time. She handed the crossbow back to Casanova. Her air-powered pistols wouldn’t even injure someone from a great range, but at skirmish she could crack knuckles and wrists. Sometimes.
Casanova examined the weapon then slung it over his shoulder and went back to looking bored and cocky. Suzie glared at him.
“Alright. How are we going to do this, mr. tactical command?” She asked Hail. "You're going to have to speak plain english when you're telling us what to do."

"Yeah. Army slang won't help us much." As if he knew something about it. Shrugging, Rattlesnake shot a glance at John, who seemed too absent to notice. He fingered the knife at his belt, shifting in his place. Reason being there... Uh. This could end up on a much worse place than Castle Smoke's cells.

He turned his head back to those following himself and Edward. "A few things. If pump my arm up and down - " he demonstrated, holding his hand in a fist, holding his arm out, bent straight upwards at a ninty-degree angle and out to his side, and moved it up and down rapidly, as if doing a series of chin-ups with only one arm. "- it means either means 'go,' 'double-time,' or 'hurry-the-hell-up.' I'm sure you can tell what pointing means, or a flat hand with my wrist flicking to the side signalling where to move. If you see someone and are too close to make a sound without them noticing, hold two fingers up to your eyes," again, he did as he was saying, his middle and pointer finger close to his face, pointing to his eyes, "and then make a fist with one hand and cover it with your other hand. If it's a good-guy you see, do the eye-point thing and then cover your mouth or chin with your hand. If nothing else, remember the 'go' signal. Just a few pointers I wanted to give you that can make this easier." Turning back around, his hand was back on his pistol, slipping it out, and moving up to Edward's side. "Cover me. Wait to continue on the street until I'm across. If you want, stay behind and cover for everyone, but it's up to you. I don't think we'll see any to worry about yet." His voice was almost a whisper, but audible. Crouching as he went, he sped past Edward, the weapon in his hand angled forward, but still at the ground and held in both hands, his shoulders slumped forwards, rushing towards the building in front of him. His feet hit the pavement as he propelled himself of the curb, checking left and right, not stopping until his shoulder hit the stone wall of the building he was aiming for. Instantly, he turned around, his weapon and eyes looking left and right, as well as up, checking for any danger to his teammates. Nothing. A hand went off his pistol and waved air towards him in the international "come here" signal.

Edward just said this before Hail left.
"Fire Support online."
And he was. It looked scary. Edward was unmoving, unless you saw his eyes. It was darting everywhere. In a perfect cover behind a car, he had the entire spot covered. Before Reason would leave to join Hail, he muttered under his breath, so only Reason can hear him. Unless the mindreader read his mind.
"Gimme Commando, or Snake. I need someone to watch my back."
That was all he said. He was half sitting, standing against the side of the car. He was in his scary zen like mode of being the sniper. his hands settled on rifle, moving it just a little, clearing the paths. He covered where Hail was, and moved it slightly so that the rope leading to the 13th floor was dead in his cross hairs. this part of the rope was held still by some rubbble, and only twitched. If the supposed leader of the Vampires climbed down this road, he or she will meet pavement after a fall from the height of 7 stories.
Unless...
He decided against shooting the rope. Inside, his stopping power may be needed for important things. Like breaking open a lock.

Reason closed her eyes, tightened her grip on her airgun, and watched Hail leave. She heard Edward only barely, but barely is (usually, but not always. Good enough for government work, as they say,) often enough. “Uhm; you want melee or range?” Reason asked, watching as Daisuke dashed silently across the gap towards Hail, followed shortly by a swaggering Casanova and a bored Suzie. “Rattlesnake’s hand-to-hand, and judging by the rifle in his hands (But you probably figured this out on your own,) John’s got range. If it was up to me you’d have Rattlesnake.” Shrapnel (still glowering,) raised an eyebrow at Reason and joined Hail. [How come I get six hundred different NPC? Muse went on holiday to Fiji and isn't back yet.]

He thought for a moment, and said this, shifting so he can have a better position, he was know standing, the rifle to the roof of the vehicle. He now covered the proposed entry way.
"I'll take Rattlesnake then. When you go over there, tell everyone to mimic what Hail's doing. This is no stroll in the park. Also, tell hail to signal me if that door is locked. I'll shoot it open. If he does that, stay away from the door. Shrapnel will hurt."
With that, he got back into his zone, his scary sniper mode.

((This thread could probably be moved into Gargoyle Tower section of this forum now.))
Scooting over as he looked back at the group, he waved others over one by one. He moved over the to corner he planned to go around and peeked his head around it. That whole side of the building would be visible to Edward, and it mounted the door he had to go through. He waved over several more, then double-checked that side of the building, and the street across from it. Nothing, nada, zip, zero targets. That was a blessing. He ran along the side of the building, ducking under a window as he reached the door. He was here. The Tower... Once more, he decided that peeking in would be best, first. His head barely moved towards the window he had just ducked under as he ran - two guards inside. Flattening against the building, right next to both the door and window, he held his pistol out in front of him, looking at Edward. Bringing two fingers to his eyes, then holding it out to his side as the number "two" then cupping his hand around the backside of his weapon, he signalled that he saw two people inside. Then, silently, moving away from the door at least a little, he attempted to open the door without presenting a target. Locked. Now, he ducked under a different window to get away from the door, moving away from the rest of the group so that someone could assault from the other side as he blasted through the window on this one. Hail turned to Edward again, and put his hand by his waist, swinging it forward to signal a "commence fire" while elbowing the wall next to him with the other hand, adding a signal if he didn't get the picture of "blow it open."
