[Better break this up, before one of you dies. ^^]
“Can I ask you what exactly is going on?” Reason asked, her voice smooth like tainted honey. She stood, a little too tall for her age, in the doorway. Her vibrant blue-grey eyes were narrowed, and her left hand was around her airgun. She was the only member of the Cigarettes with a weapon of long range, and her aim was good enough to knock Rattlesnake out, should she care to shoot at him.
Reason had been shooting all her life, of course, so it wasn’t a surprise, but the fact that she had the weapon raised sidewise, mafia-style, aiming at Rattlesnake’s head, was a bad sign. She couldn’t very well shoot Caesar – the girl was knock-out anyway – but they would both end up in solitary if Reason had any say in it. Which she did, of course. Probably more say than Seraph himself, all things considered.
“I suspect there’s a very good reason you two are at each other’s throat? Don’t think I won’t shoot you if I find out you were going to pull knives,” Reason said. Her voice was an almost exact copy of Seraphim’s, today. Probably just to annoy George – it was known that the guy hated Seraphim.

[Oh gods, I hate Rattlesnake. Mina would tear him down to pieces, or die trying - rather possible as well.]
Rattlesnake was panting. He didn't dare to pull himself up to his feet - Reason might consider it a threat.
"She was teasing me. I told her to stop, more than once. She didn't listen, so I punched her", he said as if describing the weather. "I tried not to, but she pushed it too far." He gazed at the unconscious body of Solitude, not a drop of regret on his mind. She had paid. She would not tease him again for a while, and that was enough for him.

“You punched her, eh? And how hard was it just to ignore it her?” Reason snapped waspishly, a trace of her Irish accent tainting her impression of Seraph’s voice. It meant she was either angry, or disbelieving. The guy had knocked a girl much smaller than him clean out – because she had teased him? I think not.
Reason would have to wait until Caesar was awake before she could verify or disprove George’s story, but she could put them both in solitary if she felt the need, and wait for their answers later. Sighing in that parent-who-is-disappointed way she had, Reason flicked the safety on her airgun on and replaced it in her pocket before dropping to a crouch near the short girl lying sprawled on the floor, blood soaking her shirt and covering her face. Reason pulled a face, checking Caesar’s pulse.

"Too hard", was the curt answer. Rattlesnake shrugged. "She'll live, won't she? Then she will have learnt to not bother me. That is a gain." Gods, his hands had started trembling again. Not from nervousness, but the same reason as ever. How he wished the body sprawled on the floor would belong to Seraphim instead of that idiotic girl... The pleasure of looking at his broken face would have been immense.
[ARGH... Hate... Must... Resist... To throw Rattlesnake off... A bridge...]

The minute Solitude regained consciousness she knew it. First, from the pain in her face. Her nose was never going to be the same. The second thing that told her was the annoying buzz of conversation. She let out a growl- and was careful that it wasn't a moan.
Her eyes popped open, staring up wards- and there was Reason. That was the reason why she wasn't dead- she cut that thought of abruptly. It held to much fear for... the thing laying near her.
" Hello Reason." She said- the same angry tone she'd used to pick a fight with Rattlesnake, yeah, it was in the hello.

[Uh-oh. I see a plot twist coming. He wants to kill Seraph, right? So he can join one of the other tribes and helps them take Seraph or Reason or something captive. But say it’s the vampires – they’d have to kill him off, because otherwise he might turn on them like he turned on the Cigarettes.]
Reason took a few slow breaths, her palms spread on the floor, before she had enough self-control to address the taller Cigarette without snapping at him. Although she had her gun on her, she was not quite as well built as him and there was every chance he could mash her up like he’d done Caesar.
“I’m sure it is. However, I’m going to have to ask you to show yourself to the cells while I make sure that Caesar does’t die. Despite all the care you seem to have gone through not to kill her, she might have a concussion from her fall. Throw me that torch, will you?”
She heard Caesar’s grudging words of welcome and made a shushing noise, examining her eyes. Were the pupils the same size, or – where was that torch?

[If he leaves for another tribe, it will probably be the Wildcats. It's quite plain why, isn't it? And the Vampires do not wish for open war. At least if they are involved. They prefer to stick to the winning side in the end - or slowly destroy them, in the dark. Too much risk in the open, in the day. Anyway, Rattlesnake hates Seraphim and would like him dead, but that does not necessarily involve him risking his hide for it - although he might be mad enough for that. We'll see. I'm still trying to make out the way he feels about Reason; at least, he listens to her. That's a gain on Seraph.]
Rattlesnake shrugged again. "Okay. Who cares about it, anyway?" He picked up the torch and passed it to Reason. "You know, I didn't really mean to hurt her. But she was picking up a fight with me. There is no reason to be more tolerant with her than with the others just because of her size. She knew very well what she was getting in. She was seeking a fight, so I gave it to her."

Solitude only glared up at both of them. She couldn't say much that wouldn't hurt her nose. But, she hoped the glare got the point across. And really- of course, when she felt like talking- she'd twist it all to her point. She was the injured one- they'd listen to her.

Reason took the torch, flicking it on and checking the brightness of the beam. She turned to Caesar without responding to George.
“Close one eye, please,” She murmured, and shone the torch at the short girl’s face, checking pupil movement – expansion and contraction. Although not as good a doctor as Sophie had been, Reason knew enough first-aid to be of use in a situation like this, although she didn’t have any bandages with her to stop the bleeding of Caesar’s nose. It didn’t look like she’d need it – nosebleeds were fairly short - but it would have been pleasant to hide the sight of so much blood.
“I don’t expect you do be pacifist mini-ghandis,” Reason said coolly, “But for gods sake – we don’t need to attack each other when we have the other tribes to do it for us, right?”

Still glaring as if it would save her life, Solitude shut her left eye and set her right on the torch. She felt the blood gushing from her nose setting onto her shirt- and into her hair. She'd have to wash it somehow. And clean water was short.

"Tell it to her", he mumbled. "She started it."
Rattlesnake was slowly calming down. It had done him well, though. The lashing out at Solitude had absorbed most of his rage for the last weeks. And yeah, it had been her fault. He had been by himself, dealing with his own troubles, until she came in and started that rant of hers. What did she intend with it, in the end? To have him beat her? That was stupidity, at the very least. Well, now she would keep away. At least he had assured it, the glare on Solitude's face was clear enough.

Like most of the Cigarettes, Reason had huge, cavernous pockets. She placed the torch inside one such pocket and rose to her feet, satisfied with Caesar’s health for the time being. She held out one hand to help the fallen girl up, but her gaze flicked absently back to George. She obviously didn’t expect Caesar to take the proffered hand.
“I’m telling it to both of you. If Seraph – don’t you even dare, Mr. Rattlesnake – was here you’d both be solitary for three months or some such. Because I don’t go out of my way to make life miserable for everyone, I’m only giving you each one week. Food and water will be brought to you and there is a lavatory down the hall from your cells and you will be escorted there three times a day.”
With the air of a teacher, she turned on her heels, her red skirt whisking the ground as she exited the room, her copper hair swishing and the edge of her long scarlet coat dragging over the ground. She would have looked like some sort of gypsy if it wasn’t for her graceful air that the fact that she was perfectly capable with the airgun in her pocket.

"F**k Seraphim", he snarled, quite audibly. He looked at Solitude with a nasty smile on his face. "I told you you'd get hurt if you messed up with me", he whispered in a cruel tone, keeping well away from every kick she might throw while on the ground and hoping Reason was out of earshot. "But that was a good fight, little girl. You are quite tough. A pity that I'm more than you. Your beautiful nose will teach you that."

Despite her nose, and despite the fact that her nose ached every time she moved her face- Solitude smiled right back. It was ugly enough to say quite simply- A broken nose is not something that would stop anyone.
And solitary confinement- no big deal. Because, yeah, she wouldn't be able to talk to anyone- fight with anyone actually- but she'd be alone. And her nickname, Solitude, wasn't just a pretty decoration.

[Thank heavens Rattlesnake is imprisoned when Dancer comes in. She's been beaten enough, and she's not violent. I don't wish my acrbat crippled. Even though, closing her on a tight space might set her into a rage. Her beloved freedom gone, hmm.]

He still wore that fixed smile. "Good, we will have a second lesson, then. I will look forward to it, little one. Make sure it fits your timetable. You might not be able do do much afterwards. My lessons tend to be quite firm and direct. This was only an introduction, as I guess you can see with no difficulty, ain't I right?"

[He's in two places at the same time. Who gives a damn? ^^]
“One more word, Rattlesnake, and I effing rip your s**t-head off,” Seraphim growled, emerging from around the corner. He’d run into Reason coming the other way and was now preparing to give George bloody Rattlesnake a talking to. Reason had told him it was a bad idea – but who cared? The man hated him anyway, and the feeling was mutual. There was no reason that Seraph should stop himself from beating the stuffing out of Rattlesnake, when George would have no compunction about doing the very same to him.
Seraphim’s switchblade clicked, and he held it loosely, just pointing out of the end of his cavernous sleeves. Reason had doubled back to stand beside him, worried that he might get himself or Rattlesnake killed. Not that she would have minded – much – about the later, but all the same. Better safe then sorry.

Rattlesnake turned slowly, looking at Seraphim with an insolent expression. "I was just talking with t e young lady, Seraphim. We had a nice, pleasant conversation. Reason can tell you all about it", he added, jerking his chin at the Beta. His hands clenched into white-knuckled fists, preparing himself for a fight. Yes, Seraphim was the leader of Cigarettes, but that didn't mean he had to cope with him, did it? How could the man be leader, if he couldn't even get a freaking way to keep the Vampires off? How could him, if he had let Serenity die? His right hand rose slowly toward his belt. He would not face Seraphim unarmed, if it came to that.

" The testerone in this place is killing me." Solitude said, from her place on the floor. " Maybe I'll go get a breather- no wait, I can't. My nose is broken."
Seriously, even she knew it was better to try to keep Seraphim and Rattlesnake apart. There was no doubt among anyone that the two would kill each other someday. She'd just rather that it wasn't today- as her nose was aching, and yeah, a small trickle of blood still ran from it.

“That’s the f**king point,” Seraph pointed out to Solitude as if she were thick. “He broke your nose – I didn’t give a damn if you hit him first or if he started it. The point is that your nose is broken and he thinks he just taught you a lesson.”
Seraphim circled out of the doorframe, his knife with its blackened blade suddenly glaringly obvious. This was the last straw – how many times had Rattlesnake done something like this? Something so utterly stupid or against the Cigarette’s rules? It was ridiculous – and it made Seraphim so angry. He’d wanted to tear Rattlesnake’s head off since he’d known him, and now he just couldn’t stand it any longer. Sucks to Reason and her ‘love thy neighbor’ tactics – no one hated her. She’d never been disliked, never had to defend herself from anyone who could possibly stab her in the back.
Reason could have grabbed Seraphim’s arms and pulled him back, but it would have meant victory for Rattlesnake, and she wasn’t about to side against her leader. Her friend? She could pull her airgun and point it at Rattlesnake’s head – but that was not going to earn her brownie points with anyone. Reason glanced at Caesar and nodded towards the door, meaning to close it as soon as they were outside – let the boys fight it out. She’d stay outside incase things got messy, but let them fight it out – settle it the alpha male way.
