Rattlesnake's hands shook slightly. He shoot them a long look - then just punched the closest wall with both fists. The pain was a relief, though. His knuckles were bruised, but at least he had stopped shaking, if only for a little while. He was tempted to make cigars out of the dusty grass that grew between the cracks in the street. Reason had talked him out of it, though. He had to forgo the habit of smoking, and as soon as she could. Why didn't one of those raging fits struck him when he was fighting another Tribe, like the Vampires and the b*tch who led them? It might be useful then. But no, he was doomed to the shakes and creeps up his spine, while he watched Seraph smoke away the last of the stored cigars. F**k. I'm shaking again.

" Punching a wall never solved anything." A girl said, her name was Solitude, as she watched the man, well punch a wall. Her tone was intended to make him respond with a fight- her tone was always intended to make someone respond with a fight. She sneered at nothing in particular.
Then, she sniffed. She'd never been addicted to the cigars and the cigarettes that her Tribe had found. Solitude had only been- somewhat- addicted to the other 'drug' that her Tribe found. The alcohol. She hadn't even stopped after she'd realized that she was acting exactly like her father had drunk.

Rattlesnake looked at Solitude sideways. What did the stupid little girl know? He had seen her, gulping bottle after bottle of the stored wine, and the state it left her in. She was too small for her body to handle the brutal amounts of alcohol she drank. "Shut up that bloody mouth of yours." He started flexing his hands, as if hardly keeping them from her neck. Seraphim was hard on violence among the tribe. "I'd keep off my nerves, if I were you."

" Good thing I'm not you. Then I'd be so full of testerone that I'd feel threatened by a small girl. Brilliant." Solitude smiled, she was going to get her fight. Rattlesnake was usually angry enough to have a fight. She just hoped Seraphim wouldn't be along to try and separate them. The guy loved peace.
Then again, Rattlesnake wasn't always the best person to pick a fight with- he was strong, and a good bit taller than her. Really though, only the strong part mattered. Everyone was taller than she was.

"I'm not warning you again, little girl", spat Rattlesnake. "Old Seraphim won't like it if the precious little thing gets hurt, would him? He's not here, now. Keep bothering me, and I'll make sure he notices it on you when he gets back. And you won't like it either." That was quite an effort for Rattlesnake. He seldom make such a long speech, an he should be able to keep his hands off the girl - if she left now. Screw Seraphim, he didn't have to cope with the insolent youth. He'd teach her to keep away. Just one more teasing... At least the anger had stopped his hands shaking.

That caused anger. The question that maybe she needed someone to protect her, that someone was looking out for her. And her anger put her in control of herself- and this teasing was fun. The guy was turning a lot of colors.
She threw back her head and laughed- oddly enough at the joy of being filled with anger. " Go ahead, big boy. Lash out at something smaller than you. That's the way to prove you are worth something."

"Being a ninny doesn't give you the right to play with me, Solitude." The girl had nerve; not many would face Rattlesnake when he was in this state. But that only ticked him more, that she dared to make fun of him and think she'd escape unscathed. Stupid rules. They existed to be broken, anyway. Seraphim should think a bit about them. And the girl was the one who had started the teasing. He had just been there, hurting no one but the wall. Solitude would pay for her intrusion. Girl or no girl, she had teased him and would pay for it. With a furious grunt, he reached for her neck with his right hand.

" Being an a** doesn't give you the right to hit others. But, you still do." She side-stepped the hand going for her neck. Even as he was trying to hurt her, she didn't strike back. Why? Well, first it would make him madder- which was her aim. And second, she couldn't be punished for hurting another member of the tribe that way. Even though she thought he deserved a firm kick in the groin.

"Don't you have something more interesting to do than trying to insult me, little thingy? I'm not really in the mood to cope with it. Your dear Seraphim might be more tolerant if you pissed him off; why don't you go nag at him and leave me alone?!" The last words were a shout. Snarling, Rattlesnake lashed out with both fists, aiming for whichever part of Solitude's body he could hit.

She gave a small yelp- a randomly thrown fist had hit her shoulder quite roughly.
" My dear Seraphim. The only person who might have called Seraphim dear, would've been Serenity. Not me, idjit." Yes, she was quite brilliant insulting the person who was throwing punches at her. But, eh, she was mad too.

"Go on, run and tell him old Rattlesnake was beating you", he all but growled. "You get yourself in trouble, you get yourself out of it." He threw another blow at her hit shoulder. "Fight back, ninny! Or do you want me to beat you to a human smoothie? I can do that for you, as a special favor..." Rattlesnake paused for a moment, waiting for some reaction from Solitude.

The blow hit her shoulder again- she didn't yelp this time. It was an old trick, don't let them know that they hurt you and they stop wanting to hurt you soon enough. Or they could keep hitting harder until you did yelp- but they hardly ever did that.
She sneered, " If I don't fight back, then I'm not breaking any rules, genius. Only you are." Of course, she didn't mention the rule she was usually breaking- the alcohol one. Hopefully the others hadn't seen much a difference between her usual rages and her drunken ones.

Rattlesnake laughed, throwing his head back. It was not a pleasant sight. "And not breaking the rules will keep you alive, sweetling? Do you still believe that? Do you trust Seraphim to protect us? He didn't protect Serenity, didn't look after Sophie... There is no way out of this, Solitude. The Vampires will pick us one by one, the Wildcats delight in spreading pieces of our bodies everywhere, the Wharf Rats keep gnawing until you die... And you still don't fight back." He punched her again, harder. The lack of resistance was jumbling his mind, pressing him to keep attacking until she went limp.

" It'll keep me alive longer than breaking them will." She mumbled. Again the punch hit her shoulder- it would be a shade of purple by tomorrow, hissing at every move she would make. Deciding that enough was enough- she wasn't logical enough to take to many hits without out throughing a few herself- kicking actually.
See, the thing with being short, is you tend to become a bit flexible to get the stuff you need from the higher shelves. And, since you are short, it's hard for people to hurt your legs or catch them. So, that combined- you tend to be great a kicking people in the groin. Which is exactly what Solitude was aiming to do as she snappe her leg up.

"F**K YOU!!" yelled Rattlesnake, doubling over and growling at the pain as she hit him. "You stupid little b*tch! You'll pay for it!" He continued mumbling, but was helpless. He hadn't expected that blow. "Oh, I'll make you suffer..." Grinding his teeth, he straightened himself, his eyes ablaze with a furious raging madness. Howling, he threw himself at Solitude, trying to slam her to the wall.

Which he succeed in doing. It was a disadvantage of being small- everyone was so much taller that it was hard to get out of thier way. Being slammed up against a wall wasn't a new expirence- atleast in her life. In the city it was.
Despite a new rush of rage at being pinned- she hated being helpless- she chuckled inwardly. This was fun- he reacted exactly as she thought he would. And once again- since they (and you know what I am talking about) where bruised- she brought her knee up, once again aiming at the groin.

He was expecting the blow, now. Keeping her pinned to the wall with an arm, he stepped aside, dodging her knee. Rattlesnake was on a frenzy; he had hold his anger inside for too long. He had someone to rage at now, Solitude would pay for everything he had suffered in the last weeks. The lack of cigars, Serenity's death, Seraphim picking on him, the constant watch for the other tribes. It was too much. Blind with hatred, he threw a brutal punch at her face, his mind focusing more and more on her pain.

That hurt. That had really hurt. She was lucky it hadn't killed her- 'cause yeah, it's really easy to differ between a broken nose and splinters of the bridge of your nose in your brain. Really easy. She, though, just got stuck with maybe a half-broken nose. It wouldn't even break all the way.
Growling- because now, even though she was in a rage, she had lost some of her control- she kicked out another foot. Not towards his groin, but behind his knee. If it hit, he would crumple onto the ground and probably knock his head. For a moment she let a little bit of fear cause her to hope that the blow would work.

He grunted. In his state, he didn't care to defend himself, just to hit every part of her body painfully, so her blow caused his leg to fail - and Rattlesnake fell over his right leg. He threw his hands around, trying to get a hold on her short-cropped hair. She might either fall with him or get a good portion of her hair hacked off. Oh yes, she was paying...

His flailing hands hit two parts of her head. The first was her nose- it was now broken completely and gushing with a thick sweet blood. The second whacked her head hard enough to knock her out for a minute or so- yes, folks, the girl was out and bleeding- right next to a guy who wanted nothing more than to cause her more pain.
